This is nice and soft

Today me and Leo are very excited that we are starting our holidays! Caz drove us to Carlisle which is a long way. Our B&B has two lovely beds, and we got our very own. We are looking forward to breakfast tomorrow too!

We are chuffed

Today we went to a Geek Steam BBQ, which was great fun. There were geeks, steam trains and a BBQ! We enjoyed our day out with Mr Duck and have persuaded Alistair to run it again next year. Yippee!

Relaxing By The Water

It was another horrid wet day for the most part today, and Caz was busy in her office. But about 7pm the sun looked like it was going to come out, so she took me for a little walk by the canal at Paper Mill Lock.

Big one landing

The silly weatherman said it was going to rain all day today, but Caz and Alistair decided to ignore him and go on a tupperware hunt anyway. Mr Duck came along with me and Leo and we watched the planes landing near the airport.

Wheeeee! We waved at the pilots as they zoomed over head.

What happens if Leo pulls this?

We were very excited to go with Mr Duck to the Metro depot open day today. You could go and poke about with all the trains and equipment. Leo found this big lever and wondered what would happen if he pulled it.

We have just packed a few essentials

We are very excited to be going to visit Mr Duck for a few days tomorrow and Caz asked Leo and me to pack a few essentials that we would like to take on the trip. So here’s what we’ve got:

• My guitar (for having a little jam session on the way)
• Ghetto blaster (for playing the karaoke for the guitar)
• The telescope (for stargazing in the north)
• Camera (for taking lots of nice pictures)
• The skateboard (which Leo has taken a shine to)
• My bicycle (so I can keep up with Leo)
• Leo’s teddy Pookie (so he can get to sleep at night)
• A cricket bat and rugby ball (so we can play some sport)
• Toy gun and police car (so we can play Cops & Robbers)
• Leo’s sunglasses and baseball cap (so he doesn’t get the sun in his eyes)
• A satchel (for keeping our sandwiches in)

When we showed Caz our stuff, she got a bit cross and said there wasn’t enough room for it all in the car! Oh no! What to do? We can’t think of anything which we want to leave behind.

Eventually, we decided to hire The Luggage to take our things for us. Apparently they will be whisked away and be at our destination by the time we get there. Now all we have to do is make sure the lid shuts. Perhaps Leo can sit on it?

Where are we going?

It turned out to be rather wet and horrid by the end of the day – and we had all hoped to go out on a little walk when Caz had finished work. Instead, she told us about our holiday in September, when she is going to take me and Leo to the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. So we got the maps out and had a good look at the places we will visit. Leo was being very optimistic wearing his shades, he is a silly lion sometimes!

It is very shiny

Today we had fun at the local village fête – there were stalls with candyfloss, ice cream and arty-crafty things for sale. And we saw a dog display team from Wales and a big marching band who palyed lots of nice tunes as they walked up and down. But my favourite was the big red fire engine which was on display and you could go and play with it.

At first, I was a bit nervous as I thought the firemen would want to put out my fire, but I had a chat with them and they were very friendly. They realised that I was another professional who deals with fire every day, and thought I was more than capable of keeping it under control. Here you can see me sitting on the front bumper of their enormous tender.

I feel at home

Today we went over a really big bridge into Kent and visited a place called Castle Farm. They grow acres of lavender there in the sloping fields – it looks very pretty and everything is purple as far as the eye can see! It was just my colour.

I wonder where he has gone?

Leo and me stopped off at a place called Willy Lott’s Cottage, on the way home from our trip to Suffolk with Caz. Apparently it’s very famous as a man called John Constable put it in one of his paintings.

We thought we would say hello to Willy but when we knocked the door there was no answer. Perhaps he had just popped out for a while, but we didn’t stop very long as it started to pour with rain! Willy will  be pleased though, as it filled up his pond and he won’t have to use a hosepipe.

Enjoying the fresh sea air

We enjoyed a lovely trip to the seaside today, to a place called Southwold. There is a big pier where we had lunch and watched lots of people swimming in the sea. I decided not to have a dip as Leo and me preferred to sit on the prom and catch a few rays of sun. Later we had a big ice cream to cool us down. What a grand day out!

Getting wet feet

We went for a little walk this evening to Buttsbury Ford to see what we could see. Caz spent some time dodging the splashes made by the cars going too fast through the water. Then this pair of cyclists came by, who were much more civilised.

Munching the sarnies

Today it was time for Mr Duck to go home again. So Caz drove us all to Huntingdon to pick up Alistair’s car, which has been fixed!

As it was such a lovely day, we decided to have a picnic by the river at Godmanchester on the way. We saw lots of ducks, but Mr Duck was the only one who was allowed to share our lunch – otherwise there would have been nothing left!

Bye Bye Horatio Hog!

Me, Leo and Mr Duck were at Science Hack all weekend with Caz and her geeky mates.

While we were there, we met Horatio Hog, who was just about to take his humans (Nat and Simon, another couple of geeky friends) on an 18-month journey around the globe. He was very excited about all the travel.

While the humans said goodbye to all their friends, we chatted with Horatio and hoped that he has a great adventure.
